About Us
Puppies on the Prairie is located on the beautiful and quiet prairie of northeastern South Dakota. We breed quality Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise' puppies in our home. We produce AKC registered puppies that are happy, healthy, well socialized, and ready to become your life long companion. Our puppies are given loving and attentive care while they are with us, and will be well socialized, loved, and a ~little spoiled~ upon arrival to their new homes. WE PLACE ALL OF OUR PUPPIES ON A SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, and do not sell to puppy mills, pet stores or brokers. We want all of our puppies to be placed in loving, pampering pet homes. Before placement, our puppies will have an individual and thorough exam by our veterinarian, have at least one set of shots, preventative wormings, and dewclaws will be removed. We are AKC inspected yearly and have always met their requirements.
Our Adults
Our adults and puppies live with us in our home as part of our family. We have an abundance of room for them, as well as 10 acres "just for them" to play and explore. Our dogs are happy, smart, well mannered, and treated with respect and an abundance of love as part of our family. They do have hobbies of their own of course, which include chasing rabbits and frogs, playing run & chase games in the yard, barking at the school bus, digging holes, playing with their toys, sitting by the bonfire, and numerous other important doggie activities! We socialize our adults and puppies to people of all ages, as well as other dogs. All of our adults and puppies are given the best in veterinary care, regular groomings, and are fed a quality diet of Science Diet NATURE'S BEST and homemade treats. We can provide you with references from past puppy customers or our vet if you are interested in acquiring a puppy from us.
Our Guarantee
We guarantee our puppies for one year against genetic disease or life-threatening illness, and stand behind our puppies as being healthy, as stated in our contract/guarantee. We go out of our way to ensure that you are happy with your puppy. We also like to visit with you by phone or have you visit our home prior to your puppy purchase. We love our puppies and feel they are precious gifts from God, and great care is taken to make sure they go to loving homes. We are also available for questions that you may have about taking care of your puppy, before, during, and indefinitely after the puppy placement.
Shipping options
We prefer that you pick up your puppy directly from our home. If you live too far to pick up your new baby, shipping is offered to your nearest major airport for an additional charge.
Purchase Information & home visits
If you are interested in purchasing a puppy, please email or call to make sure the puppy is available. We would like to talk to you and learn more about your family and preference of a puppy. A deposit is required to hold the puppy until it is ready to go home. The deposit goes towards the purchase price of the puppy and needs to be received within 5 days of confirming your choice of puppy. If not received in 5 days, the puppy will be made available again. Please make sure you are ready to accept the responsibility of a puppy before depositing as deposits are non-refundable. The balance is due one week before shipping if shipped, or upon picking up the puppy from our home for local pickup. Payment can be made by paypal, postal money order, or cash. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL A SALE AT ANY TIME IF THE SALE IS NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR PUPPIES. Please make it known to us upfront when inquiring about possible breeding rights with your puppy. We may offer breeding rights to approved breeders, but require a vet reference and information as to how your puppies and adults are raised. Visits to our home are by appointment only, and we would like at least 1 week notice for puppy visitors. You will need to scrub with antibacterial soap prior to handling the puppies.
